Who is conducting this survey?
This survey is conducted by World Maritime University on behalf of volunteer IMO member states, as part of a research to investigate the IMO Data Collection System (DCS) data quality and integrity.
What is the aim of this survey?
The purpose of this survey is to gain an understanding of the perspectives of seafarers and shipping managers regarding the implementation of IMO DCS and energy management in their organizations. In order to accomplish this, it would be necessary to investigate:
1. Current situation in collection of fuel consumption data, reliability and accuracy of data, workload associated with this mechanism, and finally solutions to reduce the workload in data collection and reporting
2. Energy management, energy efficiency monitoring, human element, and barriers to energy efficiency in shipping organizations
Who can participate in this survey?
The purpose of this survey is to hear the voice of seafarers and managers in shipping companies.
Data policy and confidentiality:
We guarantee your data is protected. This survey is anonymous, and the answers are treated in strict confidentiality. No personal data or identifying information will be passed on to advertisers, industry bodies or any third party. The anonymised data will be retained for 10 years.

- In this questionnaire, "data" refers to details like fuel consumption, travelled distance, and other relevant information under the IMO DCS framework.
- Your participation is voluntary and can be withdrawn at any stage of the survey. After withdrawal, your data will be deleted entirely.
